Default new member with turbo knowlege

I am a new member here and will be checking in from time to time. My mom has an N/A model and wants to mod it a bit... I have a 3000GT VR4 that has been modded quite a bit. I have about 4 years experience really tuning turbo cars (mitsubishi turbos at that!) and I am a senior member of www.3si.org . just wanted to say hi, and see if anyone needed any turbo help (especially since the GT is so new and all).

San, it's great to have another gear head/banger on the forum... I have one question that i can't find an answer to... Our cars use the TD04/TD06 (i can't remember), what other cars use this turbo and have a turbo upgrade kit available?? I'm trying to up the turbo to a bigger size but am having serious trouble... I was originally looking into a Garrett GT25R but it involved WAY too much fabrication, any suggestions??

umm I think you mean that its the same turbo as the Eclipse? there were a couple that went on eclipses... I think u mean the most common one... the 14B. Now for the suckass part... As I recall, you have an integrated turbine housing/exhaust manifold. this is where all your problems are gonna come from.

I think it is a TD05 14B turbo, which is pretty good; ppl push 18 psi outta those. your stock is what? 12.9 right? so that will hold u over for awhile. What I would do is contact XERD headers ( www.xerd.com ) and get them to make you a manifold that will accept a TD05 exhaust housing; this will open you up to any turbo that fits the Eclipse... YUM!! BIG 16G *droool*.

from xerds site (in the FAQs section)
Q: I drive a 99 Toyota Solara and want you guys to make headers for my car, can you do it?
A: Yes, we can do it however we dont do "one of" type of parts, if we make a part we would want to mass produce it which means we will need at least 15 orders before we make such part. If you can get 15 people to be willing to purchase such parts and put 50% deposits down we can make the part.

so all you need is 15 ppl, shouldnt be hard.

hope that helps!!

thanks san, i'll look into that option, that may be easier to get an exhaust manifold that will accept a more common turbo application.
