I've been reading this, my 2003.5 turbo has a neon yellow support rod, hard to miss!

but yes a nice set of chrome support struts would look great, thanks

GTSteve is on the money with the struts. I needed warranty work done on my Cruiser but I wouldn't take it to the dealer until I got some hood struts from Blane. I knew if I didn't have those on the service people would without a doubt forget to lower the stock support rod. The Blane hood struts should be everyones first mod. No doubt about it.[?]

I know I brought this up before but since the question is being asked again I thought I should re-tell my story.

My dealership has forbidden its techs from using the prop rod on the PT because it so easy to forget. They have a home made gizmo the fits under the hood and holds it up and the tech is wired to it by a wrist strap.

When I asked another tech what it was for he said "it's because we have damaged hoods on PT's because of the recessed prop"

HOOD STRUTS ARE A VERY GOOD INVESTMENT....

how could it be easy to forget?

what is happening , they don't clip it back in and this dents the hood?

like i said above, my prop rod is bright neon yellow.

As is mine. But it recessed so far back on the hood and so short that it is easy to over look especally when one is in a hurry. I have *almost* done it myself twice...[xx(]

What happens is you forget to put it down...Pull down on the hood and then bend and dent the hood. I myself have yet to invest in a set of Blaine's struts but they are my next mod...

As for your first mod... I'd reccomend removing the airbox silencers. This one is free and takes about 10 min. to do. If you are looking for that turbo sound. If not you could look at something to personalize it a little bit. I added aftermarket taillights as my second change. Not Free but still only about 10 min. work and they really change the look of the car.

I would also highly recommend that you remove some or all of the weather stripping on the backside of the engine compartment. This relieves ALOT of heat from the engine compartment. Before I did this you could'nt even think of touching the Intake Manifold, now its just a little warm to the touch after driving. Do a search on weather stripping on this forum and you will learn alot.

just some suggestions...
1) Air box silencers
2)weather stripping
3)K&N, or afermarket intake
4)Exhaust
5)Autometer gauges (Boost, Air Fuel, EGT)
6)Boost controller
7)Blow off valve
Some suggestions to get ya started... happy modding
