5 days old, scratch on the damn thing already, it doesn't go to the metal, will i be able to buff this out, it's just a faint white line on my new black paint.

Thank heaven for a really nice clear coat. a mild cleaner like Meguars works wonders.

You can probably have it buffed out. I would have a proffessional detailer do it as they have done it before.I had a 98 Black Dakota R/T with a minor scratch in the clearcoat like that and a detailer made it disappear!

The clear coat on your car is about 2 mils thick. (like a piece of note book paper) If the scratch goes through the clear (into the base or primer) the best you can hope for is improvement. During the buffing procedure, the walls of the scratch are smoothed out, making the valley of the scratch less reflective to light, or less noticable. Make sure you bring to a professionals shop, I get cars all the time that someone used a buffer on only making the situation worse. check out my web site for more information > www.perfectautofinish.com Gary, if you have any questions contact me direct
