My car experienced the same problem after I put
close to 4000 miles on it. I changed spark plugs like a few others
and the problem cleared up completely. Use Champion Single
Patinum # 3032 gapped at .042. The less I have to do with the dealership the better off I feel. After writing service for Ford,
Buick and several Chevy dealerships I know how they work
from the inside. Most mechanics really don't give a **** when it comes to warranty work. Their bread and butter are the cash jobs.
Besides that, I have seen just too much incompetence out there.
Phil

thats true GTPT, but i'd rather solve the problem at the source than try and mask it so i don't notice it anymore... But what i'll probably do is regap until i can get my computer replaced...

Cop Tzer, what makes it so certain what the root cause is?
Who's to say it's the PCM? After reading all the nightmareish
problems that people on this forum have had with dealerships
across the country. It's gone as far as DC buying back one persons car because they couldn't figure out the problem. That's pretty bad when you produce a product and then have no idea as to how to fix it when it breaks. Sounds as if some of these people haven't a clue as to what's going on.
If I went to turn a light on in my house and it didn't come on,
I would check the bulb before looking at the electrical circuit
in the house.
It's a well known fact that supercharged and turbo charged engines perform better with a cold plug. All I'm saying is why not start with something a litte more practical and work your way
towards the more complicated side?
Their solution may be the correct one, maybe not. You evidently
know how to use a computer, have you ever had to call a tech line for help? The first thing most of those guys want to do is wipe everything from your machine and reprogram it. Most of the time it was something simple to begin with.
I'd rather try the simplest fix before I allow them to start reprograming everything. The less the dealership has to do with my car the better. I have 5600 trouble free miles and have not been back since I bought it. Hopefully I can keep it that way. Everyone has to do what they feel best. Happy Crusin' Phil

I do not want to sound to happy, I feel for all of you that have poor dealers to work with. Wednesday evening after leaving work I shifted from park to drive to head home and the button on my auto stick stayed down. I was able to shift from park to autostick without using the button. I figured I would drive home and see what I could do. Got home about 5:00 and turned off the car but the key would not come out. Played with it for a while but not luck. Call my dealer and they said to get it there asap. Got there about 10 to 6. They worked on the problem until 7pm and said they got it fixed enough to remove the key and keep it from going into park without using the button. They said bring it back in the am to check further. While I was there I asked them about the above 5000 miss that I had. They could not find the TSB related to it. I forgot to take the TSB info with me that evening. Headed back to the dealer the next morning with a print out from this forum with the TSB info. They work on the shifter problem for a few minutes and I took the tech for a drive to feel the miss. Back to the dealer. They ordered a new release cable that runs from the shifter to the key lock, the shifter stuff in the console, a new shifter ball, (they noticed a scratch on the ball) and a new computer. They were able to get the info they needed with the number I gave them. All this with my BTG intake, HSK BOV, a TT, 4 gauges and the filter inline with the EGR line. I guess I am one of the lucky ones that has a 5 start dealer that really believes in the customer. I will let you all know the difference after the new ECU is in. The parts should be in on Tuesday. By the way the dealer is Keffer Chrysler in Charlotte, NC

GTPT,

I understand where you're coming from, but my dealer went through the plug changes, I tried different fuels and octane ratings, re-installing the silencers, even had a personal meeting with the head of service for DC Western Canada. They came up with its a hardware issue by trying and eliminating everything else.(mine has stuttered from day one, and was the first reported case in Western Canada.) They also asked for my car many times to try different possible fixes, gave me a loaner and replaced the gas they used on many road tests. I think they started looking at the MCU after everything else they tried came up negative.

I would say overall I am quite happy with the service I have recieved.

Cheers,

Don

Only thing I can say is, these have got to be the most temperamental damn cars I've ever seen.

Hey, Dalite, did you negotiate a deal to get Stage 1 installed cheaper?

I just noticed that I have the >5200 RPM misfire and figured that I can order Stage 1 and they can intall that instead of the TSB PCM for a lower (or even free) labour cost, rather than doing the work twice. Has anyone else done/tried this?

Mine has shown rough acceleration at 3/4 to WOT above 5000 RPM. You have a noticable smoothing out of engine after the stutter stops, and way before redline. It is like there was trash in the system that suddenly broke free. It cannot be reliably duplicated. Sometimes present after miles of driving, sometimes when first starting up. I live off of a highway with a 55 MPH speed limit. I warm the car up before leaving, as I may have to merge into traffic (2 lanes each direction) as soon as I leave the road to my house.

I want to get the problem resolved before going to Stage I; which I have had on order for over a month now. In a perfect world, I would get the dealership to install Stage I at the same time they are getting paid to do the TSB, and get a split labor fee on the Stage I that only charged for the injector part.

But we all know that ain't gonna happen...
