Default Pt GT Turbo sucking sound?

Ok, can my old girl just go back to running! As many of you know, the trans was just overhauled. When I picked the car up and got on the road, upon accelarating I heard a rather loud shhhhhhh sound. Kinda like when your passing the city bus as its pulling away from the curb under full power. I almost turned around, but figured it was the new friction plates or torque convertor settling in. Sure enough, the further I went, the sound mostly went away. Next morning, when cold, sure enough it was back. Again, when warmer, though noticable at 2500 to 3000 rpms, its not as loud. On the third day, the check engine light kicked on. PO442. Looked it up at work, stands for slight leak in the Evap system. Ok, cool, now I know where to look. So I swing back to the shop, they repull the code, clear it, check it all out, no issues. Drive to work and back next day, which is 100 miles. No codes. Shop manager goes for a ride, heres the noise, seems to feel its just the turbo doing what a turbo does. But to be safe, has a tech spend a hour checking all the hoses, vac lines etc, lifts it up, checks the whole exhaust system and what not. Alls fine. I trust the shop, its one of the last good ones around. Guys have been great to me, but this noise is driving me nuts! Now to be fair, I drove this thing in limp mode for 13 hours, it mostly sat for 4 months. I did start it here and there and go around the block etc, but thats all. So, I guess, really, you other turbo owners, do have that sound? Or had it and it turned out to be a issue? Car is running just fine, for the record. Thanks, Shawn

When accelerating, or when you lift off just after accelerating?
Punching it, then lifting off, a pssst is normal.

During accelaration. Gonna go look around the BOV as soon as the temp warms a bit. Nothing like 25 degree nights in Florida!

Wuss. It was 7 here this morning

The BOV noise is what I was describing - that's when you lift-off, not while accelerating. Check the intake tubing for a loose fitting.

Proud wuss! Did the NY thing for 21 years, enough of that!

Ok, upon inspection of the BOV, I can see a area that is pushed out some. I put some tape on it, went for a spin and sure enough in that spot it blew the tape off. I thought there would be a gasket, but upon finding a picture of it on here, it seems more like its a rubber edged kinda deal. All 3 bolts were tight. No idea why this happened! Guess I'll see what the dealer wants for one. Even if I did a ebay BOV, they just mount alomg with the stock one, so I might as well fix it!

Can't picture what you're talking about - no way to put a screw clamp on it?
Anyway, glad you found it an you'll probably get more oomph with things buttoned up.
