Default Turbo muffler

Has anyone removed the muffle on a 20023 GT Turbo and replaced it with an unmuffled pipe?

I want a nice exhaust sound but with the turbo, cat and a muffler my car is so quiet I can hear the gears shift in the transmission.

I would like a reasonable throaty sound.

Thanks

Had mine replaced by a local muffler shop. From the cat back he added a resonator, (muffler now nolonger) and then "Y" to both sides ending is stainless steel dual exhausts. About $350.00 Sounds great. Nice and deep rumble. I love it. My neighbors kid me and say they can hear me coming into the neighborhood (1 1/2 to 2 miles away).

P.S. In the part of Florida were I live there is no car inspection station.

I took out the stock system.
Cut down the choke coming out of the cat to open it to 2.5"
ran a pipe to a dual outlet 2.5" Magnaflow muffler with dual tips.
Get better flow without deflectors in the muffler and may be a good go b/n a mufflerless system and a restricted system.

I purchased and installed a Scottsdale dual exhaust system. They have a straight through glasspack design muffler. (really not a muffler doesn't have enough of a twist pattern in the slots). Anyway, it is a very low restriction system. 2.5" mandrel bend and a set of polished stainless 3" tips (no baffles in tips either). It is a bolt on replacement system. Low deep sound, sounds nice@ 3000rpm also. Does get a little loud when you hammer the pedal. The only drawback is that it is not stainless steel. I'm Happy with it.

My sales guy told me the PT had 4 wheel indipendant suspension.

When you look under a car,(you dont even need to bend at the waist)and you see a muffler.... well???

Hell, You can see the muffler at a mile away!

warren pearson,
If you want just a muffler, You can get the BTG sold by PT Tuning. It is all Polished Stainless steel, it connects to the factory pipe at the rear axel. The tubes are also stainless and mandrel bent. It fits perfectly and it looks great. You can later buy the mid-pipe if you want to quiet it down, get them together in one package or go with the double straight thru system.
All of their options are top quality and at a resonable price.

Ian

You may want to consider a Magnaflow Performance Exhaust System (http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/c...s/chrysler.htm) which is custom-made for the PT Cruiser. It sounds and looks great IMHO but is more money than some of the systems previously mentioned. Good luck.

i have one of exhaust depot's 3" down pipes with a 3" high flow cat then a peice of 3" pipe all the way to the btg tail pipe and muffler. it has a really deep rumble and the performance is great sounds nasty over 3000rpm's when you get down on it.

i don't have a total price on system yet because some of it was prototype stuff and custom made . but i am going to soon price it as an assy.
