Default SYNTHETIC OIL?

Just curious, I have a 05 Turbo lite that will soon be a stage 1. Currently I have regular oil in the car, but want to put synthetic in it. What is the best oil to go with and do I have to do anything before I change the oil, like flush the engine. Will the regular oil residue in the pan cause any problems with the synthetic? I have never used synthetic oil before so sorry if this sounds stupid! Thanks!

Hi,

as far as I know ther should be no problems when changing from dino oil to synthetic oil.
Most important is to change the oil filter at the same time, and to drain the dino oil while its still very hot. Give time to drain completely.

Concerning that engine flushing, I think it is not necessary to do that. Those flush oils solve residues in the engine, and if these solved residues are not removed completely when draining the flush oil (which is almost impossible), the will swim around in your new oil. Thus, in the worst case, the can block fine oil lines.

Take care!

Put synthetic in! There are no issues - in fact, they even sell blends - but don't buy them - I've never seen where they say how much is synthetic - but there is no compatibility issue.
I use Mobil 1 - get 5-quart jugs at Walmart - which is just what the PT takes.

Yes, 5W-30 is said to be sufficient by Chrysler, but I prefer 0W-40 for the Turbo. Actually I use Castrol Edge RS 0W-40 (full syth), I don't know if would be available in the States!?
