Stage I with stock air intake and stock exhaust is 235 HP @ 5200 RPM and 260 ft-lbs torque @ 3600-4400 RPM.

Due to the way the programming was done to give max performance in a stock configuration, it is possible that the different intake and exhaust may actually limit the HP. The jury is still out on that one. Mopar Performance abandoned their CAI Project, as they could not predict or promise any significant power gains from it.

I am not down on intakes; I have an AirRaid on my GT. However, I am considering going back to the original paper filter and airbox configuration since installing the Stage I upgrade.

I also have a K&N drop in to use with the stock airbox. At some point, I hope to be able to get an answer on intake changes with Stage I and whether or not they hurt performance. The hints from MPP indicate that intake changes may lessen the effectiveness of Stage I.

Dalite, if you do go back to the paper filter will you consider selling the K&N?

Yes, I will get rid of it if I can make some kind of decsion of what will work best with what I have. It was used around 3000 miles, and is back in it's original plastic wrap in the box it came in.

PM me and I will save your message and return email address as a reminder that you are interested. I may also have an AirRaid setup for sale.

We are supposed to soon have a speed shop opening locally. If they put in a dyno, even if they don't have much experience with it, it would offer something to give me relative output figures for the various air filter setups to make my decision from.

EDIT---(Sorry, got off on rant kind of here, really off subject when I re-read the initial thread topic)

I use a K&N drop in. I have the silencer removed and I had the snorkle removed that went to the fender. Last weekend I put the snorkle back in to the fender because I noticed that there is an area between the front of the trans and the front of the engine bay that is almost a straight shot down to daylight and open air. I took a 3/4" forstner bit and drilled out about 12 of the honeycomb recessed in the bottom of the box to let in air from the bottom. I am going to duct air up to there from the slot at vent by the driving light. I think that this setup will give me plenty of flow and it still looks completely stock. Oh, I also cut the snorkle so that it is even with the inside of the box. I think the biggest bottle neck right now is the silencer in the tube to the turbo itself. I am putting togehter a replacement with a 90 degree silicone adapter that goes from 1.2" on the turbo and grows to 3" after the 90. Then I am getting a 3" poece of alum tubing to rise to a 45 degree 3" silicone adapter into the airbox. This will flow a lot better.

I am going to move the exerior ambient temp sensor. I had moved it to the area right in front of the intake area of the stock box when I had the snorkle off. I am going to now mount it inside the airbox itself to get a good reading of the intake air.

I really can't see how the restrictive original paper filter can be better for the Stage I. It allows less air. I added Jim's turbo up intake when my GT was stock and noticed a performance gain. A stock GT is set up for the stock airbox, too, but more air was better for it. I had the Stage I installed today and it's a kick in the pants. It's a challenge to keep the tires from burning rubber now (better tires than stock would help) when I take off in first gear.[8)] If my intake is holding back power then I can't feel it. I know this is seat of the pants and I will be looking forward to see what the dyno says with your different setups. Can't say I'd get rid of my intake though, it looks so cool and when I take off in first gear with the Stage I it sounds like a small jet taking off. It really rocks.[?]

I moded my air box (no snorkle and removed two silencers) before I got my K&N Typhoon intake and the difference is just amazing. K&N wont release the dyno sheets till the intake is realeased to the public but I swear the noises is great and it feels like an easy 10 HP!
