changing plug wires

Default changing plug wires

hi guys i am thinking of changing to mallory wires and coil pack. my question is will it help with my fuel mileage and what kind of plug should i run with mallory? i have a 2.4 with turbo in my 2004. I have heard good things about iridium plugs. any feed back would be great. thanks

Forget about replacing the stock coil. It is more than adequate. Don't know anything about Mallory wires. I only use Magnecor or MDS wires. IMHO the irridium plugs are too expensive and I've run both my modified 280hp '03 PT GT (previous car) and my modified 350hp '05 SRT-4 (car I have now) on the stock Copper Plus plugs. Both cars are beasts and eat V8 engines for lunch.

Unless your car is running crappy on bad plugs and wires, new plugs and wires will not increase mpg any more than what the car was designed to make.

hey mean green how you been he my what did you do to get 280hp. my goal is 300hp my pt is my daily driver soi dont want to much i want it to be reliably i want to do what you did and get a srt4 and bulid that. I want to get stage one but its 700 dollars. im saving up for that but you know how times are. let me

Agree w/MeanGreen. Leave coil alone. I've read of many aftermarket coil failures, but none of stock coils/
Irridiums just last longer. Be very careful - the center electrode is very thin - what I used to gap was a block of wood - to open gap, hook and tug - to close, tap on the block.
Gap no more than 0.040 - I went 0.038.
