Default More Speed

Hi
I have an 2006 PT GT, which has plenty of power but shuts down at 120 mph. Is there some kind of chip for the Pt that would correct this?
Thanks
Robert

Robert,

I'm pretty sure the top speed on the turbo and N/A cruiser are controlled by the PCM. Like reklaweelmada just said, I think the computer shuts down the fuel supply at a particular speed, so as reklaweelmada suggested, find an alternative fuel supply and off you go.

CREWZIN has it correct its PCM controlled. Even Stage1 PT's are stuck with a I think a 126mph max out.

There are aftermarket tuners like the diablo predator that can change that but after 135mph the PT is no longer stable with stock wheels and tires. SCT is another company that did at one time have a program for the PT but I haven't heard anything for a while about it. Superchips - garbage.

If you have a 5-speed its easier to borrow some of the SRT-4(neon) tech but for Auto's its much harder to find things to work since all of the SRT tech is for a 5-speed, when it comes to the computers and tweaking them.

But you should only be hitting those speeds on the track. Ok I won't be the pot calling a kettle black I've done it too, but try to keep it to an empty highway in daylight. Stay safe out there..

Where the he!! do you want to go 120+ mph? Hopefully at the track and not on a public street. Only an idiot would do that.

I exceed 120 mph often - in my airplane...
I have a few times on the ground, in my younger days, NOT SMART then and certainly not now - too many 'idiots' on the road. I have some police pictures of a car after hitting a tree (at the passenger door) doing 90 - two bodies and the car in several pieces. SLOW DOWN.

Are you reading the above posts or just typing with your eyes shut. The computer is controlling everything and unless you can find something that gets around that, let the Ricers wrap themselves around a tree and you can have the last laugh.

Those speeds will get you nothing but a stretch without your license and a fine of a couple months pay.

Why do you keep asking a question we have answered? And street racing is just F'ing stupid, we won't help you with that, cause the way you are talking is a street racer - cause they just don't get it.
