FYI
This is the second time that my PT has been in the shop for this discrepancey. The first time they aligned the A/C and Pwr steering pumps and gave me a new belt. It was okay, but I could still hear a faint squeak. Well Sunday, I back it out on my way to Church and it's squealing like all heck. So I jacked the car up, removed the right inner splash pan and found the source of the noise, its the idler puller which is made out of "break a lot" that plastic crap that always breaks at the most inoppurtune time. I tried lubing it to no avail, I tried lubing the belts which worked but only temp. I even tried getting a new belt from NAPA, and that didn't work. FYI, the PT belt is a special size. We even tried a 2002 PT belt and that didn't work. But I noticed that it was real quiet with the 2002 PT belt in, but it was about 1/2" too big. So now its at the dealer, who stated that there are a lot of them that do that. Hmmmm! It ought to be interesting as to what they come up with. New A/C/PS pump and belt. Stay tuned macster |

The dealer is unable to "fix" this problem. A call has been placed to Chrysler Engineering for a fix and my belt was sent to them. I received a new belt (installed) which gets rid of the noise for a while. But it will come back. There are three other PT's with this problem. My hat is off to the service manager and staff at McCune Chrysler in National City Ca. They were extremely courteous and appreciated me working with them to get a fix. He the Service Manager noticed that I had the Stage 1 and the BOV in and said it didn't bother him, he also noticed that I had "DONOT FLASH" on my PCM, and he mentioned that sometimes they get updates etc to the units, and that not being able to flash the unit would hinder me from getting them. I told him that I had the old unit and he could flash that if and when the updates came out.

[:I] Macster,
I outlined this problem on an earlier post. My dealer installed a belt "slightly" narrower that the original solving the noise problem after NUMEROUS trips to the dealer about it! Even took it on a 3,600 mile trip after the install without any problem or noise! I don't have the new belt number and I should. If I get it I'll post it here. Joe

Joe Yes, you did and I tried searching for it to no avail. I was hoping to get a response. Hopefully you can look at your work order and give me the number. The number that I have installed and also as a spare is 04891519AC. I would really appreciate it if you could find the pn. thanks macster
