Early 03 GT vs. late 03 GT vs. 04 GTs?

Help! I'll be buying a new GT very soon; I'm trying to get a super deal on an '03. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the early '03s had some sort of a glitch in the engine and another in the auto trans that got corrected during the year. If so, then obviously I'm better off with one from later in the year. Does anyone have any info on these issues, and when they got corrected?

Also, what about differences between the 03 and 04 H.O. engines? I believe they are the same, no? (I know the HP is listed a little higher in 04, but I thought this was just because of conservative rating in 03).

THANKS TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP! I hope to make a decision very soon, since the 03's are disappearing but the rebate on them went back up to $2500 today! (Unfortunately the rebate on 04's stayed at $500).

O3's 5spd of specific build dates had an issue with the clutch and flywheel assembley but were replaced under warranty

i believe it's the 5 speed GT built before Jan.22 '03 that had the problem. Its a high rpm missfire, and it's a pain to try and get the dealer to do anything about it... atleast from my experience.

Really, the rebate on '03's went back up today? I don't know why they dropped it down to $1500 for a whole 33 days anyway.

My sister bought her '03 just days before they dropped it. She had to choose between getting a good deal on one without anti-lock brakes, or paying a couple thousand more for the '04 with them. She took the deal.

It's so late now that your choice of '03's wouldn't be very big. Shop dealer inventory at five star dot com, you might get lucky, or just pay a little more for the perfect one.
