Default engine break in....

on an '03 turbo when is the engine break in considered over? at what milage? Also, anyone have any tips as to breaking in the motor?

Is that Mopar BOV CA. emissions legal?
any open element air cleaners available for that car that are C.A.R.B. legal?

thanks,
Lance....

I dumped the factory oil at just over 1500 km (just over 900 miles) and put in 5W50 Castrol Syntec. At just over 1700 km's (same night as the oil change) I was making some full throttle passes at the not-so-local drag strip. Everything is fine with the engine, runs very smooth. The factory break-in oil seems more like water. VERY, VERY thin stuff. I can't imagine keeping that mixture in there for the recommended 5000km first oil change.

The owners manual has some tips on engine break in. They recommend some full throttle blasts as low as 300 miles, but in the highter gears only (3+).

Follow the Owner's Manual and don't take the engine over 4000RPMs the first 1000 miles. Enjoy you new ride and welcome to the forum. [8)]
