I went to my dealer today and spoke with the servicw manager. he took my paperwork and went to research the problem. when he came back he stated they had a pcm in stock that was designated for the owner's son but he would give it to me. when i picked up the car all seemed fine until i noticed the speedometer was not operating. on the way back to the dealer the check engine light came on. i returned to the dealer and the bottom line is that the tech forgot to program in the tire size and gear info so that was the reason for the check engine light reappearing. hopefully all is well but only time will tell.
thanks to ptgt marc for his updates as his receipt of a new pcm helped spark my getting mine.

gooberff,

I had the same problem (minus the check engine light). Seems the documentation given to the mechanics say not to program the tire size into the TCM, that it auto-downloads this information from the PCM. Obviously, this isn't true as everything worked OK as soon as they programmed the tire size into the TCM.

That said, the new PCM seems to have eeked a bit more response out of my car.
