I took my cruiser in because the check engine light came on June 13 and the dealer reflashed the pcm. On june 24 the light came on again and the diagnosis was that I needed a new pcm. Service writer stated they were on national backorder and it would be about two weeks. I've called once to check and was told they are still on backorder. It's been over two months now and to me this seems to be an excessive amount of time.
1.Has anyone else had a problem with their pcm needing to be replaced? 2.Any suggestions on my options to speed up the process? THANKS |

what code are you getting?

I have not checked to see what codes come up. I have relied on the dealership to diagnosis why the check engine light came on and is srill on. I have read about doing the self diagnosis but have not tried to do it myself. Please refresh the procedure for doing this.
Thanks. |

I did the procedure suggested and it showed a P0032 code which according to my manual is what's called "1/1 o2 sensor heater circuit high". The first time I took the car in they mentioned that they recorded that both o2 sensors showed error codes. They reflashed the pcm but the check engine light came on again a week later and now has stayed on since they said I need a new pcm. I do not beleive they have tried replacing the o2 sensor to correct the problem.
i will be talking to the service manager to see why it is taking so long to get a new pcm( if that's what's really the problem.) |

If the sensor shows up again, it is that is the sensor...
The problems with service techs. today is that they always blame it on the PCM... Most of the time either the sensor is screwed or there is a real problem on the item that the sensor monitors... I have seen many times that the service techs just clear up the PCMs and send them back to the owner, hoping that the problem doesn't show up again...
