Default Engine rebuild

Hi, I am from Australia.

I have just had the engine rebuilt (heavy duty pistons, rods etc.) on my 02 manual PT.

It has an aftermarket Garrett Turbo and is boosting at 12psi.

Since the rebuild, it is using 1 litre of oil per 1000kms and there are always black specs on the tailgate.

The car seems to be running well and fuel consumption is good.

Is it normal to be using so much oil?

No. I have a factory turbo and at over 75,000 miles, use virtually no oil between changes.
Does your exhaust have a white haze?

No white haze.

Exhaust is black.

The person who did the rebuild said that it is normal to use oil for the first 10,000km.

Does this sound right?

Everything has to seat properly and that takes some time.
