[:I]Why in the world can't DCX offer a package as a PRE-ORDER ONLY with all the goodies, springs, sway bars, Konis, 235 X 18" wheel & tire package, Stage II engine, LSD, comp axils, lightened, guage pods(full guages), etc.????

Remember the old no warranty 426 Hemis sold off the showroom floor?

WHY AREN'T THEY MARKETING A PACKAGE IN STEAD OF RANDOM BITS AND PIECES?

I forgot... add an aftermarket specialty warranty package that includes thrashing!

Why not set the auto world on it's ear?

Why this would be a sound financial decision for the bean counters at DCX:

DCX has a LARGE ammount of leased PT Cruisers coming back at the end of their term.

Valuation on these cars should be as high as possible for DCX benefit.

By adding a high tier, special order only model, they bump the PT average cost to a new level(even though your new PT won't cost more).

NOW your add on of a stage I has resale value!

Any used PT that has those specific add ons would posibly be capable of upgrading their value.

This only can occur when DCX uses the upgrades on a factory model, even if they only make a few.

We would all win!

Not to mention the press value on a now tired subject - PT being old hat now.

They will never do this for one simple reason...This is not the car that they are trying to aim at that sort of demographic. It might happen with the SRT-4, but then they're gonna have the problem of people not wanting to pay that much for a "neon". Don't get me wrong, i wish they did... but that would also defeat the purpose of personalizing your car with mods.

Dealers have done it: Mr. Norm's Grand Spaulding Dodge in Chicago from the mid-60's thru the early 70's. Advertised on WLS-AM and heard thruout the mid-west. Maybe someone will step-up???

RossCoe,
I thought I was the only one who
is that old on this forum. I have not
heard those call letters in a long time
a friend of mine bought a Mr. Norm Hemi.
In 1968.

Mr. Norm was also the first to put the 440 into the "A" body Dodge Dart, in 1967. Chrysler did it themselves in '69, with a warranty!
A lot has happened since those "good ole days" of the car business. Offering a car without or with reduced warranty is cause for alarm according to all the consumer watchdogs. I doubt you'll see anything like that from U.S Automakers anytime soon. I see the merit in it, but I don't think DC will.
