I'd rather strengthen the na 2.4 internals and turbo it.

I'm going to have to give it some thought and see what is best.

have fun cramming a V6 in there.......engine bay is not spacious......but if you cut the friewall, you can make it work, but if you are going that far you might as well do a Rear drive V8 swap, like some companies do with the focus.

I don't think I'm going to go to that extreme. But I am going to try the electronic supercharger. All I'm looking for is a few more mpg, a couple of ponies. And it'll look cool under the hood.

AN ELECTRONIC SUPERCHARGER DOES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will not get more power or more mpg. I wish it was that easy and cheap to add more power cause I would have saved thousands of dollars on my builds. Don't be so gulible.

What about a supercharger kit? What are the benefits and do I have to modify the engine?

If you can find one. Easier install and will bring your power up to about a turbo lite (180hp). It does use power to make power so it is a bit of a tradeoff. For what you want I'd rather go with this. Kenne Bell Optimizer II

They do sound awesome. For power, though, I'd rather have a supercharger on a V8.

So I can get the Supercharger or just the chip?
If I go with the supercharger, would I have to tear apart the block, put new pistons, injectors, etc in it?
