Default Greenstuff Brake Pads anyone?

http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/brake...f+brake+p ads

Is anyone using these brake pads on the front of their GT. If so, how do you like them? I am looking for a future replacemnt for my stock pads to reduce brake dust.

Thanks for a reply if you have some input on this.

To reduce brake dust, I changed my wife's to Wagner Thermoquiet bought from O'Reilly's. They cost $65 and were for a base PT. The dust is way down but her car isn't driven very hard...as far as I know!

Stockers generally dust heavily, in the battle of $ vs performance, $ always wins.

According to a local mechanic that does a lot of PTs you should watch your rotor thickness (the rotors tend to wear quickly) and a rotor out of spec is an unwarranted item. Brake failure with out of spec rotors could be denied coverage.

You might check slotted or drilled rotors as replacements, usually not that much more an made with harder metal.

I think there are less expensive ($90) ceramic pads that U can use that will reduce dust no almost nothing. I used Repco's on my Alfa with great results. I know Raybestos has them for about $40 an axle! The ones you are asking about have a great reputation and I am sure are great pads just kina expensive. On the other issue that Kirby brought up I am not a big fan of drilled or slotted rotors as I can't see how they are better than stock. Yes I know all about heat venting and gases etc but in the end I go for the big piece of metal dissapating heat. Tire Rack sells rotors made by Brembo that are plain but high quality and very inexpensive!

People said the same thing when we started to use vented discs vs solid discs. The biggest difference is the superior metal for disc life.

If you put on the EBC Greenstuff's and their black oxide rotors, they have an extended warranty of some sort. That tells me the pads and rotors were engineered to be compatible. HOWEVER, rotors are currently only available for the NA Cruiser.

Although I now have 40k and pads/rotors are okay, I plan on the EBC combo come Spring. The OEM discs are too soft (and rusted out!!).

Never tried them but out Police cars use them and love the results. The only problem is that they are pretty tough on rotors and ours are not the best and are subject to warping under more than normal use!

Tried them on a sedan I owned... bought new rotors next brake tune up time. I didn't really notice anything that made me say" gee these are really better".

I'm running the EBC Greenstuff on my Neon, all I have to say is low dusting my arse! They do however perform amazingly, and I would highly recommend them!
