Default Any extrudehoned intakes????

I want to build a sleeper (stock appearing), does anyone offer a polished intake manifold (on the inside), I know some companies take the stock manifolds and port match them, polish-up the inside of the manifolds (upper & lower), and the turbo will spool up faster and offer better throttle response, and better airflow, and the best part IS, looks stock and performs great, anyone know of ANY companies offering this??? It's usually an exchange/purchase part. Any help??

I dunno who does, but I know it's usually very expensive.

There is an extrude hone shop in Anaheim, sorry I don't have the address or phone... found it through the Mustang group. I'll check my files

i had always heard that with a turbo or super charged motor that polishing the intake would not be a big H.P. gain. the turbo forces the air through the intake super fast anyway.

just my 0.2 cents
P.S. b stokum does this kind of thing for the na pt cruiser's . they are modifing the gt cruiser intake's to fit on the na cruiser.

here is his site http://www.bstockum.com

thanks tommy

The trade off is turbulence that is necessary for disbursement of fuel mixture vs flow. The rough surface effectively reduces the size of the oroficeby causing friction eddys along the surface. In a N/A F.I. car this can be a good thing because it can cause better fuel atomization. In a turbo, the turbulence benefit may be reduced by the high flow rates. There are camps on both sides.

If you are looking to move air in and out though, honing and port-matching to keep the path eddy free should work.

After you go past the turbo, air flow isn't significantly faster in a turbo than in an NA. The air is denser. The volume is still the same at any given rpm because the engine c.i. is still the same. There are just more air molecules per unit volume (boost). P&P should help the turbo as much as the NA.

In a port injected engine, the fuel mixture is only in the head.

Let me get this right, then what you are saying is: the friction of moving air molecules when compresed 10X normal is not increased, so HP gains by increasing flow will be the same in N/A and Turbo engines?

There is no velocity difference across the valve when it is opened at 1 bar or 10 bar?

Even though the injector is physically in the intake plenum, the fuel never passes by the backside of the valve or spends any time in the chamber behind the valve.

The majic of engineering I guess.

Dont waste your money. The gain will be marginal if that. Save up for a LSD or a downpipe

$$ FOR $$ BEST ADVICE YET!

Probably much easier to do also.
Please keep all concerned posted if you have a favorite LSD, and the good and bad experiences. (You had been talking about doing the LSD before, you probably will be the first to do it and put it under stress!)

The LSD and Downpipe are sleeper items also!
