The old "cool down" therory is correct if you use dino oil. With synth there really isn't a need since it will not "coke" on the bearings like dino does. Coking is when the oil frys and turns to a coal-like substance called coke. When I worked in oil refineries they had a big unit called a coker that did this on a huge scale to get the coke. Good there, bad on the bearings. Also, in the days before liquid cooled bearings coking was a major problem. Now days it really isn't.

Just don't run your car into your driveway at 5,000 rpm's and shut it right down. Let the turbo spool down some before shutdown.

Well the jackasses at the dealership where I bought the car apparently used dino oil in mine, and Quaker state at that. So Imma have to change it shortly. But I generally pull into my parking lot at home, work or wherever driving like a human with some sense for a minute or better and Im always sure to let it idle for 30 secs or so while I close the windows and gather my stuff before I get out of the car.

'03 PT Cruiser GT 5spd: removed muffler and airbox silencer future planned mods are K&N typhoon intake, 2" rear lowering springs, hopefully some kind of old skool mag style wheels, and possibly at least a stage 1 turbo upgrade. Oh and i GOTTA get rid of those $#@!'in flame decals!

a turbo timer will save you the worry. Turn the car off, lock it up and walk away. It calculates how much time is needed to cool down(i think), cools it down by idling, then shuts the engine off for you. Now I am not sure if it is possible to install on in a PT, but I think it should work.

yes a turbo timer can be put on a PT but if you just calm you driving down before you shut down you wont need to buy a timer but if you the type of person who'll slide into there parking lot and imedately shut off the car then maybe you should invest in one.

Driver mod will save you money.
