I was just reading asite today that says the pt engine is the same as the neons, bottom end etc....

there are peeps easily running 300+ hp with those, also some drage racer has a 900hp srt-4, stock bottom end, stock internals.

THE ENGINE IS NOT THE SAME, THE SRT-4 IS BEEFIER HAS MANY DIFFERENT INTERNAL COMPONENT, JUST TAKE A LOOK AT THE POWER CURVE. THAT'S WHY THE STAGE I FOR THE NEON MAKES 5 MORE HP AND HAS A FLATTER TORQUE CURVE.

hmm, I dunno, thought the srt made more due to the exhaust.

The engine is the same......however, one thing is that the PT has a muffler and the srt doesn't...

Cheers,

the block/internals are the same. What differs is the intake manifold, exhuast, PCM and resulting programming, they get the NVG trans where the PT GT got the Getrag 5 speed. I'm sure there are other slight differances, but the major internal engine components are all the same.

The difference in the curve and power in the SRT is the intake...NOT the internals!

The SRT does have slightly (and I mean slightly) more top-end due to a lower restriction exhaust and somewhat lower restriction on the air induction. The torque curves are otherwise essentially identical. Marketing pushes us to make them look different - check out some chassis dyno results, stock SRT to stock PT.
