I used the flat clamp that was on the factory muffler that was spot welded on. I did not like the cheap old style muffler clamp that came with the muffler either. Plus the main reason was with the flat factory muffler clamp I can remove the BTG axle back and install the old muffler. The clamp they furnished would have deformed the pipe making it hard to remove. I dont see how this flat clamp could ever dent the pipe making it hard to remove and have to be cut off. Maybe the muffler shop didnt know about the locating pin on the pipe and tried to twist it to get it lose and it would not move so they came up with the dent excuse to protect themselves. This was the easist and fastess muffler replacement I have ever done. Even the stage 1 and the BOV were fairly easy and well worth the time installing them. I dont know about anyone else but I Feel much better about the car when I do the work on it myself. Flash

Steve

I just installed the BTG muffler using the supplied hardware. The sound is tolerable, but just barely. If it gets louder. out it comes. I will post pictures tomorrow in a new thread or if you don't mind I can post them here.

Go ahead and post here and we can keep this thread going. BTW, you can always buy the resonator if it is too loud for you.

ptgtcb, Like you I like the pipes only out of the back of the cruiser. Here is a shot of the Scottsdale duals system. They use a straight thru design glasspack tuned for the Turbocharged engine mounted just behind the cat. It is a little loud when you hammer the go pedal, but at idle it's low deep rumble sounds great. No drone @ 3000 rpm, just a purr. They also make a "quiet system" that uses a second straight thru resonator upstream (but still in front of the axle). The system that I purchased is considered "medium" as far as sound volume goes.

Great look Alan! Is it stainless steel? I was thinking of getting the BTG stainless steel dualies. With the winters here in Boston, the aluminum ones would simply deteriorate. Does anyone know how long the BTG stainless steel dualies should last? I'm considering waiting until after winter for the purchase.
