Default recal question

recently I bought a 2003 GT from a salvage car dealer, the car had a small fire under the passenger seat from what, I don't know[:I] For some reason because of the small fire they salvaged the car and now after buying it for $10,000 I am the proud owner of it. My question is will I be able to get the recalls done for it for free? I know I don't have a warrenty but will I be able to still get recalls done?

Run a free vin # vehicle history check, http://wsf.carfax.com/cfm/general_ch...?partner=YAH_1 ,and see what the records show.

Technically, any recall should be covered. But, you better check with your state regarding salvaged cars and if the state inspected and approved it for road worthiness. If everybody was notified that the car was totaled, you may be out of luck and may have to purchase a separate warranty (if approved). As far as the remaining new car warranty, depending on the last statement above, you would need to check with your local Chrysler dealer and see what's in the system. Most car manufacturers say the warranty is transferable, BUT with restrictions. If the vin number stills shows the original owner, you may want to ask how to change it over to reflect the change, or any recall notice would be sent to the original owner.

if it's a 5 speed, i am only aware of 1 recall.
Check the build date on the car. If it wa before 3/03, and it's a 5spd, you may need the clutch replaced.

Tell me more about this recall. I got a 2002 with 5 speed but not a Turbo. Were those recalled too?
