Default Engine codes godsend :)

Just as I was about to hop on the freeway for my 90 mile round trip commute this morning, my engine light blinked several times. I did a u-turn so as not to get on the freeway and pulled into a parking lot. Nothing noticeably wrong with the car. Idle was fine, etc. I decided to drive on in to work and did so without incident.

I read a bunch of threads about error codes on this board. I've also bookmarked that sticky with the list of codes. I'll be retrieving the codes when I get home and will look them up here to see what's going on. I just crossed 40k miles, so I'm hoping it's just a service that's overdue. I just wanna thank you guys for the wealth of info you keep here on the site. I can think of three separate times when I was able to fix some small thing myself rather than take it to the mechanic because of what's already on this board. It's a great resource.

Wish me luck tonight!

Why wait 'till you get home? Only takes a minute...

I waited until I got home because I park in a busy garage in the morning. No time to sit in the car. The parking guys grab it quickly and get it out of the way.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get a code. I tried half a dozen times. I always got it to return "done", which I think means I did the sequence right, etc. I'll try again in the morning, but I did it as fast as I could this evening.

Sometimes, it does not store a code....
If it doesn't recur, forget it.

Well, I was overdue for new plugs and wires and so I took it to the mechanic and had that done this morning. I was going to get an oil change this weekend anyway, so I added that to the list. I'll just hope that it doesn't come back.
