Performance Chips

I've been thinking about installing a new performance chip on my '06 PT. Most of the stuff I've read is all negative as far as reviews go. If they don't work then how come there are so many of them on the market ???

Anybody have any experience using these things & if so any good advice ???

Where are you seeing these "chips"? On eBay? If so, all that they are is a resister that fits onto (or attached to) the IAC that fools the computer into thinking that there's cooler air coming into the throttle body. The cooler the air the denser it is and the computer adjusts the fuel intake and advances the timing. The same thing happens when you first start the car in the early morning. The "chip" (resister) is attached ALL the time so more fuel is introduced ALL the time, even at idle or when driving around town. Supposedly there a couple of HP to be gained, nothing that you'll feel but could drop your ET in the quarter mile by .001 If your into track times and don't mind using more fuel (all the time) go for it. They are all the same so look for the cheapest one. I've seen them from $15 to $50.

There was only one I read a good report on - it also reprogrammed the automatic tranny - Kenne Bell. It reprogrammed timing to run on either plus or high-test - your choice.
You send your computer in, so count on some down time.
