4. pt cruiser up pipe used (intercooler to throttle body)
5. stage 1 injectors (with more air more gas is needed)
6. either a turbo pt computer, or a Diablosport or SCT flasher
7. a few extra sensors for boost management used
8. oil lines and water lines to lube and cool the turbo used
9. intake for the new turbo (time to buy a K&N intake!)
10. Misc. Things always come up.

and for the person that said "that you cannot lower boost... aftermarket waste gate and plugging the boost controller the computer wont care i ran 5 PSI for the first week after doing the swap.

Thanks for the tips... but how much would all this be and where could I find it all? (One question if I go to a junkyard and find a PT that's in good front condition could I salvage it's Turbo (if it has) and use a couple parts from it?)

Junk Yard would be perfect and if you go to srtforums.com there is always good turbos for sale. Do note that about $1500 can be spent but you will get everything

Alrighty then... and how hard is it to put it on? Like for someone with little mechanical experience?

You told him hardly anything and made it sound easy. We both know he'd better know what he was doing or he'll blow golf ball sized holes in his block. I've seen it happen. In your more informative post I see nothing about upgrading the internals. The non turbo engine internals are weak for making good power.

Sounds like you have a really nice ride. I hope you haven't gone rice and put a srt emblem on your car.

i need the pt reff to throw the BS flag, that will cost you 15 yards!

The mbc runs off the selinoid (i'm a chef not a speller!) which is vacuum lines... If the mbc is all the way closed (no boost) it dosent reduce the stock diameter of the line... Ie you will run stock boost!

The wga is an exhaust bypass system, allowing air to either go to the turbo or out of the exhaust. As pressure builds so does the tension on the spring holding the valve closed. The stock valve starts to open at 4psi and is fully open at 9-10psi. Agp wga, S2 wga, and fm wga begin to open at 9psi unless you upgrade the spring. The advantage of the non stock wga is a shorter arm= the larger the distance between the valve and the spring is greater tension or more boost! No after market wga has a longer than stock arm... Which means... Wait for it... Stock boost!

You may have run 5psi but not for the reasons above.

On a side note, i did a little digging on your car... Nice work! That takes alot of detication.

The PT seems rediculously easy to turbo, especially with available bolt on parts from donor cars (read SRT4) and if you do your own ECU you can really keep the costs down.

All that said, I wouldn't venture into it if you aren't that mechanically inclined or of you need to rely on your PT for anything. It takes time and knowledge as well as a couple bucks.

You could probably pull it off for around a grand if you source the right used parts. I may turbo my PT at some point after I toss one on my TJ.

Gas mileage improvements are nice, however they get really god with the right tune and ECU. On my Probe GT for example once I turbo'ed it I was getting 7 more MPG on the highway as well an extra 100+ whp.

There are aftermarket threaded/adj wastegate canisters that would allow this to happen.

I don't want to get into a turbo war with you here, I have ordered custom rod length wastegates for years in custom fab canisters as well as extended threaded rod canisters myself with turnbuckles.

And don't assume I do not know or have not researched; 20 years of building cars, having a speed shop and building quite a few turbo setups should lend me some credence here. If you don't know, don't insert random words - research.

This is not rocket surgery.

I agree with probesport this isn't rocket science if you enjoy working on your own car this would be considered an adventure and fun if you purely want fuel mileage but a Toyota this project isn't for the faint of heart and will not take a day of down time. We are talking about a lot of RESEARCH and time.

Can you turbo a pt cruiser that is non turbo...

yes but not by simply bolting on and going. If you haven't customized your car and its in good condition, trade it in and get a gt then get the stage 1 from mopar call it a night and enjoy the car.
