Default seems my differential decided to break at the track

long story short....i was shifting into 4th at the track, about 4500 rpm's i felt something and got out of it. Now it makes a noise each time the wheels make one revolution. Jack it up and spin the tire....at each specific point in the revolution something catches in the diff and makes the intermediate shaft and the tranny jerk a little bit like it's catching on something. My guess is a broken/chipped tooth of some kind. any other ideas?

Id agree with you, but would suggest visiting PTCrew.com cause there are more racers there.

come to find out my 2 passenger side motor mounts are torn, motor rocks a lot and didn't realize it. I'm guessing that had something to do with it. I'll have to wait til monday to get a quote of anykind. i still only could best a 15.0 at 96 with a boost leak on the stock wga. oh and i took my back seats out and the car weighed 3120 on the scale at the track without me in it.

Hope you are not going to still use stock torque struts. Get solid ones. The ones for the Neon SRT-4 will fit. You'll feel more vibration in the cabin, but it isn't excessive. It will also help with wheel hop which is probably how you broke the stockers.

Red face Re: seems my differential decided to break at the track

Seems to me that taking a stock parted PT to the track is asking for trouble.
They weren't built to race. Just to cruise!
I'm sure the can be made to race just fine. But, that would be a significant number of aftermarket parts - that are a considerable step up in quality and performance capability!

haha yea i wasn't driving it hard at all considering my 60ft was 2.3-2.5, i was basically rolling off the line and shifting pretty easy. i got another tranny though with a 12 month warranty for 500 shipped from florida. tranny, new clutch, shifter bushings, and solid mounts are going in when the tranny gets here.
