I opened the hood over the weekend to check and see if the clamp on the bottom elbow of my BTG CAI had come loose again and guess what? .... The whole elbow had ripped off at the turbo! Nothing left but the clamp and a ring of rubber! The bulk of the intake and filter were sitting loose in the engine bay being held in place by the breather tube and vacume line! NO WONDER IT SEEMED NOISY!
Called BTG and they said I was not the first and they had a support bracket in the works that would be ready soon. They sent me a new rubber boot and vacume line grommet, (it was cut in half by the movement of the loose intake.) IF YOU HAVE THIS SYSTEM... GO OUT AND CHECK IT NOW! I would include pictures but I can't figure how to make it work! I had about 4000 miles on it before it failed. |

I was told that they are going to be sending out the fix as soon as it is ready to everybody that has one. I am holding off re-installing mine until the new support arrives.

I just installed the K&N system and it has a brace that bolts into an unused threaded hole on the engine. Hopefully that prevents this sort of thing. That's what we get for being early adopters of mods. We are field testing these things.

I have been running my BTG intake for a few months now. Here's what I had to do. I built and small stand where the actual filter sits on. I had problems with the unit coming loose from the get go. After installing the small stand, I have had no more problems. Wish I could post a pic, but not sharpe with this computer stuff. Good luck guys. I do like the BTG unit.
