Default Here's one for ya.

A while back I asked about a starting issue when cold and sometimes when hot, the GT would not start first time hitting the starter. We took the car in and it was an NTF (no trouble found). Well, the other day the boss lady was driving home and she got a Check engine light, was close to the dealer and dropped it off. They had it for two days and when the PCM analyzer was plugged in the PCM cleared, the check engine light went off and there was NO codes. Hmmm, well they played with it some more and had the start issue in the morning, just so happened that Area rep was in that day and his comment was "It's a gas cap." WTF??? Gas Cap??? Yup, they changed the gas cap and the issue has NOT returned. Starts first time every time. Seems the gas cap seals the fuel system and ours was leaking air and the fuel system lost presure. First start there was no fuel. Had no answer for the no codes on the PCM...Go figure.

Wow...must be a common problem for the rep to know!

Thanks for the info.

It's not particular to this car either. A lot of fuel injected cars have the same issue (including the ImpalaSS although it hasn't happened to me).
