Default Power locks locking on their own!

This just started happening tonight in my girlfriend's 2005 GT turbo convertible, After we got AAA there to get her back in she was at the gas pump and it happened again. Good thing the windows were down so she could get back in. Also when the car goes over 20 MPH the self locking doors still lock but now there is a beep that goes with it... Has anyone heard of this happening? Could this be the mystery power drain that has been leaving the battery dead after the car has been sitting for a day the past month? Thank you in advance for the information.

My guess is battery drain is probably multifunction switch turning lights on - usually fog lights.
The door locks is probably the Remote Keyless Entry Module - the RKEM.

Thank you We are keeping an eye on it, regarding the fog lights though, we took out the fuse for them when the drain started happening to eliminate one thing at a time, the dead battery still happens.

Deen - I had an issue with my '04 about a year after I bought it new. The locks would randomly cycle - lock and unlock. I took it in and the dealer replaced the door key cylinder sensing switch. (5293090AE SWITCH-SECURITY ALARM). They said that I was probably washing it "too vigurously", and sometimes water could enter the door lock and cause a malfuntion in the switch. Haven't had a problem since.

Was this a problem before the AAA incident ? how they open the vehicle ?

my wife took the car one day and forgot about the alarm arming by itself and locking the doors so she call the towing company and the use the metal strip
and open the door after that day, the locks will lock and unlock byitself

the problem was the guy that open the door broke the plastic behind the
lock cylinder $40.00 part and they pay for it

good luck

Thank you Kevhead! Party D, the first time we noticed this happening was just a few days ago. The door locked by itself prior to AAA unlocking it. Thank you both for reading my post. Hopefully we'll figure out the battery drain and the mystery lock thing soon. I think I will name the car Christine soon.

My mother in laws 2003 cruiser was doing the same thing doors locking on their own. running down the battery talked to dealer no help. Then started thinking on my own! The car has children lockouts on the back doors to prevent them from opening the doors. I put those two switches in the up position and it stopped locking itself!!! Its been 2 weeks and no problems, go figure. Hope it helps somebody

Keep an eye on it. My personal experience has been that a low battery caused the door lock gremlins, not the other way around. I was running an undersized, Braille race battery back then so the low battery syndrome happened more often than usual for me. Also since those batteries seemed to last only a year and a half (x 3 batteries = 4.5 yr) the spooky door locks could be my cue to get a new battery.

It could be the little wire connector on the back of the door lock cylinder. If that thing gets cracked or broken somehow, it can make the door locks act very bizarrely. I learned this the hard way. You'll have to take the door panel off to check it.

Which lock cylinder does this apply to ?
