Default 2004 pt cruiser maintenance

After 5 months of hard search i finally found a nice pt cruiser GT
( to dark to take pictures tonight but will post some tomorrow )
2004 GT automatic 33k miles
I check the car very good, no leaks no problems 1 owner he use premium gas
and regular oil

this car pulls a lot harder compare to my 2001 limited 5 speed and i have a lot done to it

what is a good oil to use in this vehicle with low miles ?
what else can i do this car ? i am planning to keep it for a long time
thank you

I use Mobil 1 full syn. Would be worth changing plugs and wires also.

As KLCruiser is dong, you should definitely start and continue using some brand of synthetic oil and a good filter.

I would change plugs and wires and PCV valve and new air filter.

Change the oil and run synthetic. My preferene is what ever is on sale, ie mobil 1, Penzoil Plat, QS Synthetic, etc In the winter I run Amsoil. I use Amsoil oil filters.

I would then drop the trans pan and change the filter and refill with Mopar ATF+4.

I would get a turkey baster and suck out all the fluid int he PS reservoir and refill it with ATF+4, I use Amsoil ATF. Do that a few times to feshen up the fluid. Or you could disconnect the cooler return line to the PS reservoir and bleed some off that way.

Then I would pull the wheels and get a helper and bleed the brakes to get all the old brake fluid out.

Lastly I would rust proof the car.

Note I just went thru all this crap on a 06 GT 5 spd stick with 40K. Took me a couple weeks at night to prep the car, this included cleaning and painting the whole underside and spraying rust proofing in all the doors, hatch etc and the rockers and subframes.

I also put mopar molded mud flaps on the rear and mud flaps on the front.

Stick with the Chrysler ATF+4 for the trans and also source your trans filter from Chrysler.

Per the plugs I just run stock Champion copper RE14mmcc gapped at .040"

Also get a good set of wires, I run the mopar blue P4876511

You could also take your TB off and clean it, will get the built up carbon off the butter fly and where the AIS pintel seats, will idle better.

This link is your best friend, assume you have Adobe reader. Thank Candyman for providing

http://webdev1.net/hosted/documents/...shopmanual.pdf

Go to transaxle section, 41TE page 233 Fluid and Filter service

Initial refill after the pan drop is 4Qts but then you add to bring up to proper level when warm.

I would suggest you check the level prior to any service so you will know where it is on the stick, you want to make sure it is up to temp and prior to pulling the stick put parking brake on and put in each gear and reverse and pop in neutral and check with engien running. Also make sure your on level surface.
