Parts! What Parts?

The check engine light came on last week. Figured it might be the gas cap. Played with the rubber gasket a bit and sure enough the light went out. A week later it came back on, so I was ready to take it in to have it checked. Stopped at a car wash, the kind where they detail before and after and run it through a automated washer. The car was idling the entire time. When I got in to drive off, I noticed that the temp gauge was off the chart. I got it to a safe area and called DC road service, which went fairly well. I later checked with the dealer who informed me they needed two parts that they didn't stock and it was going to take FIVE days to get them! Through my extended warranty I was eligible for a loaner, but why can't DC have hub warehouses where they can overnight parts to dealers. Wouldn't that be cheaper then covering five days of a rental car even at discounted rates, not to mention leave your customers with a better feeling about your company? Bean counters, wake up!

I waited 3 months for a part....it was on national backorder, they had to wait for the part to be made...

Believe it or not, Sakigt, that is illegal. If they did that, the car they pulled the part off of could not be sold as new. And what dealer is gonna do that???

My local dealer (Galenana Chrysler, Jeep, etc) here in Fort Myers, Florida does also. Just ask my neighbor

Miracles do happen or maybe DC read these threads. I got a call from my dealer that the part came in, a fan relay, and that my car should be ready by noon tomorrow. Only hope that this wasn't a trick or treat call.

Dealers should also change you for used parts when you break something and actually change your oil filter (let alone your oil) and fairly charge you for everything. Lemmie know you find one that does all the above, cuz Im sure they arent very sucessful.

Chrysler does have a few hub warehouses. BUT the majority of the parts would come directly from their main distribution center. Takes anywhere from 2-5+ days before the part arrives, if the part is in stock. The dealer parts counter can see in the system how many pieces are in stock at the main distribution center or hub warehouse for the part they need.
