Here's an Owners Manual download for the PT Cruiser. See if you can find the one for your car.

1) Put synthetic oil in it. Now and always.
2) Get the tranny flushed - every 50,000 miles - find a place with a flushing machine and be sure they only use ATF + 4 - costs about $200.
3) Plugs and wires - the stock plugs are okay, the stock wires are crap. Gap at 0.040. RaceAndStreet has Mopar performance wires.

To answer your first question: If you change the timing belt now at 64K then it won't be needed again until 164K but there's other things that need changing along with the belt: tensioner, water pump, serpentine and alternator belt and some even suggest the oil pump. They all wear out, so if you do everything then you won't have to worry about any of them till 164K. Do you plan on keeping the PT that long?
