Higher Octane Gas = Slower Burn = More Power and less chances of ping or detonation. If you do fill up with 87, as long as you aren't driving it like it's stolen you will be fine.

When I bought my GT the car had 600 miles on it already (it was still a "new" car) but for those 600 miles it was filled up with 87 gasoline. After I decided to purchase it, I picked it up the next day, they kindly filled it up with gas, but once again with 87. Maybe this was a flaw, but I only had 113 miles to the whole tank (which I ended up filling at 11.9 gallons) I filled for the first time with 94 Octane. Since then I've gotten about 220 miles with filling it up at 11.2 gallons almost everytime. I'm not easy on the pedal, but I could definitely feel the difference the higher octane fuel made, and not to mention smoother ride when using the recommended premium fuel.

Hey, Gary turbomangt--one tank of the "cheap stuff" won't hurt your car too much......except for performance, [8)] which really "doesn't matter to you" anyway, RIGHT!??? [)] [B)] [:0] [?]

Hi there folks ! Would it make sense to a small degree that your fuel economy will go up as your tank becomes lower! As the tank goes down, the weight of the vehicle goes down and in theory, you should get better fuel economy! On that note, our fuel prices here in Ontario are around 70 cents a litre for regular ( around $3. a gallon ) and about .80 to .85 cents per litre for premium, which I use in the Turbo. ( around $3.50 a gal.) This week, I reset my odometer and drove. Well, the Turbo is for driving....right?? I checked my odometer when I filled up yesterday, and it read 195 klm. After I picked my chin up off the table, I did the math and it worked out to 11.2 mpg. Man....I am having a lot of fun with this car !!!! [?]

My GT hated me for puting 92 in...I cant imagine 87! Just keep your high speeds to a minimum.

Gary, you crack me up with your comics/ can someone tell me why the 3 grades of gas go from 87 (octane) to 89 then 93? why don't they have a 90 or 91 grade. I think the manual says min of 90 octane, but around here anyway, your choice is 89 or 93? just wondered why they do that. seems like a 90 grade would be popular. ok Gary here I go. I'm going to give you my best shot. lets see you top that! heres one more [:0] Gary

I never let mine go below 1/4 tank so the fuel pump does not have to work harder.

Any thoughts on brands of gasoline for turbos?
