In Calif gas comes in 87 89 and 91 I use 91 wife uses 87. I insist on 91 for summer and long trips she insists on 87 to save money and for her cruises to and from work!!

My wife and I have vacationed all over the NW and SW the past 5 years...we have found that the higher you go in altitude the lower the grade of gas that tends to be offered for sale. In a naturaly aspirated (NA car) the higher you go in altitude the lower your compression is (less dense charged)hense a lower octane grade can be used. In Oregon 87/89/91 is pretty normal throughout the state. Two years ago when we were traveling throughout Colorado and ajoining high-altitude areas we were finding service stations with average grades of 85/87/89
