This is really the most rediculous thing I have heard of yet. This is also why many people are staying away from stage 1 etc. After wokring with dealerships for 15 years, I doubt that the issue ever made it out of the service department let alone to someone like 3Bar that actually would have some knowledge of what a BOV does. I hope he can make some sense of this issue.

Same as Cal on the warranty issue.

I would like to focus however on the courage and honesty that 3BarBoost has shown over these last weeks. God knows that I have taken a few swipes at the mother ship, yet he hangs in there. He doesn't slink away and hide as some others have done, when the sailing gets tough. 3Bar, you are a man among men.

Thank You.

So, if I understand you correctly- if I buy a BOV
and a Stage 1 and they are dealer installed AND
I have problems later but they are "NOT" something
I did--you will try to make it "good to me?"
Correct or Not??? I KNOW they are NOT covered
by a warrenty. This is my only stumbling block.
I would really like to do the modds but I can't
eat an engine rebuild myself (who can)? H.
Remember Butch Casidy and the Sundance Kid running from the possee and about to jump into the river to safety; Sundance says "I can't swim" and Butch says "don't worry, the fall will probably kill you".[B)]

Do you realise that replacing a turbo can be $2500 or more with labor costs. These high tech engines are not cheap.[:I]

Oh boy, my MOPAR BOV just showed up this morning, should I install it or send it back? I don't know allot about Turbo's or BOV's (besides what I've picked up here) but I was under the impression a BOV was good for a turbo, how could it cause the Turbo bearing to fail? I guess 3bar will find out.

All hail 3Bar.

The issue is not the MOPAR BOV, it is an aftermarket BOV.

Crazyjoe,
The issue is that it could be any BOV, or for that matter ANY non stock part that a bad dealer wants to blame for something that should be a warranty item.

Well guys here's an update... First off, 3BAR thank you for showing some integrity as i know we've disagreed on some points previously, but your help is much appreciated.

I bit the bullet and paid for the repairs, simply because a rental is too much money over a period more than 3-4 days. Came out to just over $2000 CDN!!! I plan on taking up the issue with chrysler and upon getting it rectified trying to work out some sort of re-embursement for the cost. When i went in to pick up my car, i had a chat with some guys from service (mechanics) about my situation and they un-officially agreed with me. Due to the fact that the Turbo has CONSTANT OIL PRESSURE DESPITE ENGINE RPM! This directly contradicts the reasoning supplied to me earlier...and so the rabbit hole gets deeper....rest assured that this is NOT over!!!!

COP TZER:
The ball is now in D-C's court...unfortunately you made a mistake by paying for them to get it fixed. I hope D-C do the right thing but I am doubtful. Do what the others have suggested and contest the credit card charge. Tell the credit card company that this is warranty work and it should not have been charged until D-C came up with a solution.

However, I understand that we all live in the real world and require transportation and doing what you did is sometimes unavoidable.

I wish you all the luck in the world. If you have problems, let me know. I'll look for the email address of an online auto mag journalist that really helped out me in the past with a similar situation.

Good luck!
