Default Which should I buy 2005gt or 2006gt

An enigma, I love the looks of the 05, reminds me of my recently decesed 02 limited.

But the 05 I found seems to be a lite from the specs im seeing. (LOW HORSEPOWER) I also am looking at an 06, both around 50k miles both $10889 (will be haggling on that a bit) I wanted some gt lovers opinions though my style prefrence is the 05 are there any redeeming factors in the 06 besides the performace) (both are convertable)

The 05' is more supported for mods (horsepower wise) than the 06' due to the computer system in them (06' up are canbus). Some have ran into issues using a Diablosport Predator

Also there is not any "lite" GT's so if in fact both cars are GT's, then HP would be the same.

It is my understanding that the Turbo's prior to '06 were 215 HP. '06 began the HO (High Output) Turbo with 230 HP. The badge on the lower right of the deck lid of my '06 states "2.4L Turbo, High Output".

EDIT: There is a digit in the VIN that indicates the type of engine. For convertibles, engine type EDZ (vin id X) is 215 HP. Engine type EDV (vin id S) is the HO 230 HP. See the chart below.

Maybe it's just personal taste.
But, I came on to the PT scene in 2006, with a 2006.
So, I do not like the older look.

Speaking of a 2006 and up High Output Turbo....

Correction:
EDZ is the Non-Turbo Engine
EDT is the 215 HP Turbo Engine
EDV is the 230 HP Turbo Engine

EDIT: There is also a 1.6L engine type EJD. I believe the D stand for diesel. These may only have been available outside the U.S.

I don't know what year each engine was first available.

Also i would ask which model you think has less factory issues, i know my 02 was alot of minor things like battery overheat and wheel barrings, and multi function switch

Actually, the 03's were the only ones with 215 hp.
03-215hp
04-220hp due to larger fuel injectors
05(late)-230hp due to a plastic intake manifold replacing the aluminum one
So, if the 05 is a GT, and has the plastic intake manifold, it should have the same hp as the 06. At least this is the story of the sedans, Im not 100% if it all carries over to the convertibles.
Also, the HO engine is the GT engine, to separate it from the turbo lites, which only say turbo.

One more necessary piece of information in order to decipher the chart I provided. PT27 is the convertible. PT44 is the sedan.
