The turbo motor is stronger than the non turbo motor, especially if you want to run higher boost.

Try ebay motors, PT classifieds for parting out a turbo PT, junk yard etc.

pt turbo items - Get great deals on Parts Accessories, Cars Trucks items on eBay Motors!

A 03-05 Neon Srt-4 engine is the same as the PT turbo, though the intake manifold and intercooler plumbing/intercooler are different.

If you're wanting to swap motors to the NGC-style block (GTs), you have a TON of work ahead of you. Sensors changed, crank position sensor is in a completely different place.. there's a ton of differences.

The biggest issue with turboing a 2001 or 2002 PT are the connecting rods. Instead of dropping cash on a newer style block, just have yours tanked, treated, install new pistons (lower compression if you'd like) and rods and you'll be fine.

I use Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market to find used parts. Good luck.

I think it may be cheaper to buy 2 junked PT cruisers Turbo, and try to fix one out of them!

If you are mechanically-inclined and can think for yourself to do the installation, you can pick up all the parts you'll need to turbo the car for about $1500. If he wanted to replace the connecting rods, he'd need to add the cost for those plus the machine work/assembly.
