Been there, done that.
One of the forum members that works at a Chrysler dealership was good enough to look up these kind of things for me to try and get my dimming lights fixed at my dealer.
Customer Satisfaction Notification No. C30; dated November 2003.
Among the seven models listed are 2003-2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser
Says; "NOTE: This notification applies only to the above vehicles built from June 15, 2003 through August 14, 2003 (MDH 0615XX through 0814XX.
The first seven pages cover what they are to check for. If it's just
corrosion on the pcm, replace the pcm. If corrosion is found on any of the wire connections, replace the wiring harness. Replacing the wire harness's does not make for good reading.
This is one of the things I questioned the service manager and Chrysler rep about for my problem. Naturally since mine does not fit into the dates, said it did not apply. My reply, BULL SHI?. To me bad is bad. If one batch is bad and or wrong, why can't there be others? Told me the same thing about some of the TBS's. Dates don't fit into mine they said.
Anyway, i'm still waiting on the outcome of mine as I have asked for Chrysler to do a buy back as I don't think I should have to pay for their mistakes.

I wonder what model and year triggers this notice my 02 built GT does need a new PCM but exept for mileage it don't qualify for a new one!!
Read your WARRANTY INFORMATION pamplet that came in your owners manuel.
As I said in another post, I feel the pcm belongs to Uncle and we are
paying one way or another.

1SPRINKLERMAN:
Ref. to my original post above. I wrote exactly what was in the notice that was sent to me from Chrysler.

What DC and your dealer will do....
DC will repair your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor). To do this, your dealer will inspect the PCM electrical connector seals and repair any that are found to be out of place. If a connector is corroded, the PCM and affected wire harness will be replaced.
They replaced my PCM and just cleaned the corrosion from the harness. I argued that this was unacceptable to me to no avail. Sure enough it failed again, fifth time. I enacted the Lemon Law and now have my new GT.
My point is BOTH need replacement if corrosion is found. Harnesses may have circuitry built in them that could be damaged and corrosion is like a fungus / cancer. You might clean it but it won't go away. No telling what may have been short-circuited and what failures may have been induced.

Hey Rolo, Chuck here.
Cruiser is in my garage.
Service manager called last week and says I have to sign a form to go any further, which he had. Went there, top of form said replacement. Form said Chrysler will replace mine with any Chrysler product excluiding a Mercades. I told them I did not want a replacement, want to turn the car back in. Did not sign the form. When I got home, message on the phone from them saying I have to sign to start the process. I have not been back in touch yet.
Mine was made 2/19/03 and #875.

Hey Chili, Chuck here.
What year did you turn in? and what year did you get in it's place?
I've told them I would not pay difference between MSRP & MSRP.

Chuck;

Turned in 2004, got 2004. Lemon law varies from state to state. In my manual that came with the car, it gave instructions on how to start the process. Also, there was a pamphlet that depicted the Lemon Law for various states. Be sure you call Chrysler direct and get a case number. Also you must notify them in writing, very important to do this. Check out this link get some free advice.
