Default Antenna won't retract

I have a 2003 Pt Cruiser Turbo GT. The antenna has always retracted when the radio is turned off, whether it's to use the CD or turning the car off. Today I noticed that it isn't doing that. I can hear the motor after I've turned the car off, but the antenna doesn't move at all. It's not bent, and when I've applied pressure to it to see if it just needed help to retract, nothing happened. I don't want to break it, so I didn't force the antenna, but it definitely did not want to retract and was stuck in the upraised position. A couple of sections moved slightly, so I don't think it's a lubrication issue. Besides, it was working perfectly fine and suddenly now it isn't. Do I need to replace the entire antenna? Or is something malfunctioning between the motor and the antenna that I need to reconnect or change a fuse?

Sounds aftermarket, never seen one factory.

Yes, it must be an aftermarket unit. My old LHS had a power anetenna and did the same thing; I replaced the mast with an eBay one for about $10 and never had an issue again.

It most likely is aftermarket. I bought it from the original owner, and he had done several upgrades, this is probably one of them. I'll try replacing the mast and see if that works. Thanks for the help!

Yeah, its the mast. I was constantly replacing the one on my Volvo years ago. Be sure to keep it clean once you put the new one on and it may last longer.
