Default Cost to replace radiator hoses and thermostat??

Hi, My 2003 Turbo overheated two days ago, and I got it towed to a mechanic. They have looked at it today, and one of the hoses has burst, and coolant was sprayed all over the place. He recommends replacing the burst hose, plus the two rigid radiator hoses, and the thermostat. The price will be approx. $760 all up. This seems really expensive to me - online replacement parts for hoses and thermostats are listed as around $20 each. Does anyone have any idea if I'm being ripped off??

Thank you!!

I'm not familiar with the turbos..having said that, it sounds like a LOT of cash to do that work. Like you said, the parts are only a small bit..get a second AND third opinion!!

That is REALLY expensive for radiator hoses. I am wondering which hose burst though. Can you be more specific?

I did some searching and Yes, there is a lot of work to replace the hoses on a turbo including , it looks like, pulling the radiator and moving A/C parts. Even with that, over $700 is a steep price to pay. As BladeRunner suggested, if you can, get some other opinions.

i wonder which coolant hose bursted. either way there are plenty of Neon SRT's who went big turbo and wont need their turbo coolant lines anymore and should be able to find some for fairly cheap.

if there is nothing wrong with the upper and lower rad hose then dont worry about replacing it.

if you need a new thermostat. Napa 180deg Tstat part #153 should be about $10

Sounds high to me

If it is the upper and lower radiator hoses it isnt a big deal

To do the upper rad hose, you need to take the upper intake off but that isnt a big problem. See pic

Under the lower intake above the starter is a crossover pipe which feed the heater hoses. There are two sections of rubber hose there(one is a weird size and I had a hell of a time locating it) and those are the pain to change. They hook to WP housing. The crossover pipe wraps around to the driver side and two molded hoses go to the heater core and one taps off and goes to the turbo. There is also a nipple from the turbo See the pic of the hose sandblasted and primed.

Note I had to put a new radiator in so I changed all the hoses, replaced the starter since a new mopar unit was only 80$ and a new crank sensor since I had everything apart.

So if they are doing the upper and lower rad hoses, and all the hoses which attach to the crossover pipe then it may not be a bad price. They will have a lot of stuff to remove to get to the hoses on that crossover pipe.
