Question Neon SRT Motors/GTPT Motors

Hello guys- I just had a quick question I hope you guys could help clear up. I need a new motor for my neon and I know I'm able to use the PT 2.4 Turbo motor as a replacement. Now heres my question, the Neon SRT engines were made from 03-05. When I look on ebay the PT turbo engines are labeled from 05-09. So will an 05 (Or even an 09) be swappable into the neon's engine bay? Bolt right in? Wires and all?

Also- whats the diff between: 2.4 turbo and 2.4 HO turbo?

Thank you very much for your help- And hello from your little brother (Or sister lol)

Check out the SRTForums, think there was just one in MN or OH for sell straight from an SRT-4.

On top of that, I bet some of the guys there would be able to steer you in the right direction with the swap and obstacles you'll need to overcome.

Btw, the PT GT's were from 03-07 if I recall correctly.

Thanks I'm from the forums- but since I had PT cruiser engine questions I thought it best to get it straight from the source. They pretty much said any turbo PT motor will work but weren't TOO sure- I'd just like to make sure before I drop 2k you know?

Anyone know the difference for sure from a ??-04 vs 05-09 motor and why I wouldn't be able to use it in my 04 neon? (Which was made until 05)

Well, you said you have a Neon? What did it have in it...2.0 4cyl?

As far as motor differences go from a PT GT and SRT-4, they share the same block/etc. minus the intercooler/piping/intake manifold/intake. Everything else is pretty much the same.

Was hoping someone else would chime in about the year differences but like I said I don't think the PT GT made it past 07.

Question for you. Why not save up some more $$$ and get yourself a stock SRT-4/ACR? Or did you find a motor you've got your eye on? You'll need a PCM flashed to go with the engine as well, injectors to match, intercooler, etc.

Well I drive an SRT4 now- its just the motor recently started knocking bad @ 140k miles so I'd like to put in a lower mileage engine and have a year or two to rebuild the one I have now. I've got my question answered though, thanks You guys rock. Be safe and Happy new years!

The 03-05 will work. 06+ they switched to a can-bus system and incorperated tipm to delete most relays/fuses... I'm not sure on the harness from the 06+ but everything 03-05 is plug and play. If you buy the full swap make sure its vin specific or you got a huge paper weight.
