My question is what is bag MPG? I drive pretty conservatively and so does wife. We get about 19 MPG around town and about 22 on the hiway! Is this bad? Car puts out 199 HP at the front wheels on the K&N Dyno bone stock!! I always thought that my hiway mileage should be higher than just 3 more than my around town mileage!! I drive about an hour each way on the hiway then fill it up and take mileage calcs. I dont exeed 70 mph much and keep car in D range not the stick part in my Auto/Stick tranny! I am driving bewtween 500 and 700 ft above sea level for the entire trip!!

Update on my PT situation.

I went to the dealer. According with them my PT does not have "service call" for the PCM problem. They showed me a report with a big message indicating "no service call for this car".

Service guy said that my problem points to the gasoline, that I need to use a better gas. I use 87 octanes gas, that is the regular unleaded gas here. Service guys said that I need to move to 93 octanes gas (premium here), because engine needs better gas. I argued them that service manual does not mention nor recommend the premium gas, but I will try premium gas and see what happens.

On the gas mileage consumption, according with my numbers every 41 liters give me around 250 kilometers, which is about 6km/liter. That's translate to 10.7 gallons and 156.25 miles = 14.6 mpg. And that for me is pretty low. My daily miles are around 20, there are some hills around here (Mexico city), and some times a full tanks is not enough for a week.

What do you thing, do I'm getting a low mileage?

Aerodynamics really kills this car, which is why your high-speed mileage isn't much better than your in-town.

Rafaelhdezmex, Yes I think your MPG is low although I dont know how to deal with your altitude as I am not use to driving at high altitude that you may be driving in!!

Hola Rafa, i was checking my owner's manual (en español) and found in the Seccion 7(Mantenimiento, pagina 233) Seleccion de Combustible: "Premium" para 2.4Lt Turbo, but maybe the
yours being an Auto-tranny version has another owner's manual.

LoboMXGT you were absolutely correct, GT Turbo needs premius gas!. I switched to premius gas and "chocking" problems looks like went away. However, I stell feeling a very poor mileage, what is your mileage on your manual GT? Mine is like 5 to 6 KM per liter.

Rafael,

Premium gas will definitely help you out, but the altitude in Mexico City is also affecting your mileage. Unless, of course, the on-board computer automatically adjusts timing to address oxygen flow (or lack there of). I leave that to the experts to confirm. I was stationed in Denver a few years back and and my van (pre-on-board computer)ran like a dog until the timing was adjusted to compensate for the change in altitude (sea level to 5,280ft).

The PCM does take into account barometic pressure so elevation would be taken into consideration.
