What is the part number for the Mobil 1 oil filter? My local shops do not have a listing for it yet. Thanks.

If you are changing synthetic oil at 3000 miles you are wasting your hard earned cash. They were designed for longer service intervals. 7500 to 15,000 miles believe it or not.
I disagree. The oil picks up acids & crud & such that can't be filtered. True, the oil doesn't break down, and crud gets suspended due to detergents, but while expensive, the oil is a lot cheaper than engine wear, IMHO.
I go 5,000 miles on synthetic & K&N oil filter, on N/A PT.

What it comes down to is 'To each his own'. If you don't mind changing out syn every 3000 miles do it, it's not going to hurt anything. If you wait to 5000 miles you're going to be OK also. Heck, I know some people who use dino and have never changed their oil... that's their choice. At my next oil change I will be switching to syn and I will be changing it and the filter every 3000 miles, my choice, my car, my wallet.

Mr.Blonde,

I've heard both arguments (change synthetic at the regularly scheduled interval, and also don't worry about it until 10k miles).

Personally, I've run Mobil 1 in my previous ride ('91 Talon TSi Turbo AWD) and now in my '03 GT changing at 10k miles with no problems at all. I put about 50k on the Talon after switching to Mobil 1 and have 16k on my GT now.

Of course, I always change the filter (also Mobil 1) when I change the oil!

Wahoo, another former DSMer!

Just changed my oil again today. I used Mobil 1 5w30 syn, as well as a Mobil 1 oil filter. How long should I go before I change it again?
Thanks in advance!

Would recommend staying with the owners manual recommendations to keep your warranty intact. I would play it safe and use Sch B (severe service). Believe the maintenence guide for the turbo is at the end of the owners manual.

Sch A: 5,000 miles or 6 months, change oil & filter for the Turbo

Sch B: 3000 miles or 6 months, change oil and filter.

I would suggest if you want to go beyond 3 - 5,000 miles per oil change then you should have your oil analyzed. Check out www.bobistheoilguy.com for everything you ever wanted to know about oil but were afraid to ask. Before I was informed of this site I had no idea that there were such things as oil geeks.
