Just changed my oil again today. I used Mobil 1 5w30 syn, as well as a Mobil 1 oil filter. How long should I go before I change it again?
Thanks in advance! Be sure to visit my cardomain page! (In my signature) |

I still do mine at the regular interval.

I still do mine at 3000, but I just like crawling around under cars.

If you are changing synthetic oil at 3000 miles you are wasting your hard earned cash. They were designed for longer service intervals. 7500 to 15,000 miles believe it or not.

Dealer told me with mobil 1 it is ok to go 5,000 miles. But to check the oil level every 1,000.

Mr.Blonde,
I've heard both arguments (change synthetic at the regularly scheduled interval, and also don't worry about it until 10k miles). Personally, I've run Mobil 1 in my previous ride ('91 Talon TSi Turbo AWD) and now in my '03 GT changing at 10k miles with no problems at all. I put about 50k on the Talon after switching to Mobil 1 and have 16k on my GT now. Of course, I always change the filter (also Mobil 1) when I change the oil!

You took a really good oil. In other cars (Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen) you'd have to change it after 15.000 - 18.000 miles. But Chrysler-Germany says after 7.500 miles (or every 12 month) for the turbo. They recommend a MB 229.3 or MB 229.5 synth. oil with the ACEA B4 specification. http://www.whnet.com/4x4/oil.htmlPeter ![]() |

To beat a dead horse to death. Change your filter at 3000 miles and continue to run the Mobile 1. It is the filter that is in need, not the Synth, it will go the 7000 or 10000 miles.
