Turbo Maintenance

Ok, I have the pleasure of 2 firsts, !st PTC and first turbo. 04 with 89k miles. What if anything should I do to the turbo at this point. I know how they work and all that, but is there some PMS (preventive maintenance schedule) on it I should be doing?:o

Re: Turbo Maintenance

The BIG thing that comes thru here is: Use Synthetic Oil, keeps the lines from "coking" and plugging up.:D

What he said ^

And, avoid "Hot Shutdowns". If you are not sure what that is or just want additional information on turbo do's and don'ts review the PT Crusier Turbo User's Guide here:

If you are like most of us, the first thing you should do is just surrender to the fact that you are going to spend a shitload of money making it go faster, brake harder and turn better (this falls under "accepting what you can't change")...then move on from there...OH, AND WELCOME!

Yes, it's true, you will soon be bitten by the Mod Monkey, and once that happens, well, kiss your "spare change" goodbye!!

Oh, and then, after you've been bitten, then made mad passionate animalistic love to the mod monkey, you'll have stuff like this:

And for some strange reason your PT will seem lower to the ground and take corners like it's on rails...

Then one day, when you get all that fancy stuff on your PT, you'll be cruising down from the mountains from the club cruise you just finished, and you'll look in your rearview mirror and see this....

Now you know you have been truly bitten by the Mod Monkey....

Before you have visions of modding for power start thinking and saving for the timing belt/water pump you're going to need at/before 105k. Synthetic oil is a must, too.
