so i was wondering, what is the HP rating on a 03 dream cruiser the salesman that sold me my car said it was rated at 220hp is this true or did I get scamed and lied to

The horsepower on the 2003 DCS2 is 215hp--the same as the GT model. In 2004 the horsepower was increased on both the DCS3 and GT to 220hp. From others I've talked to many car salespeople don't even know [V] that in 2004 the PT Cruiser offers a choice of two turbo engines -- 180 and 220 horsepower--very sad but, too often, "par for the course"! I don't believe you got "scamed and lied to" but the salesman who sold you the car was not properly informed/trained. I have owned a 2003 and now a 2004 GT and really cannot tell the 5-horsepower difference when it comes to actual road performance. Enjoy your new ride as you have purchased a great car.

The 5 HP difference is due to slightly different injectors and PCM programming on the '04's. If you were to put a Stage 1 kit in both, they would both be 235 HP.

Check the date of manufacture of your PT and search for "TSB misfire" on here and see if it applies. Or, just hit >5200 RPM in 2nd gear or higher and see if you have a misfire...new PCM perfoms better from what I hear (mine is on order).

It should be a requirement that at least the service personnel read the forums for the cars they service.
