Default Need advice on battery installation issue.

I'm new to the forum and need help with an issue during my battery installation. Battery died on my 05 PT GT, so I bought an Odyssey PC1200LMJT to replace the dead battery. My knowledge of automotive terminology is currently limited, correct me if needed. After installation of the Odyssey, I noticed that the negative terminal is up against the PT's chasis. Reversing the battery would cause the wire leads that connect to their respective terminals to be too short. Connecting the positive terminal is no issue. With the positive terminal connected & a bare negative terminal up against the chasis, my car door lights work. No sparks observed. Even if I can connect the negative terminal, I'm sure it'll be up against the chasis. I assume this is not safe. I can't return the battery for an exchange, since I bought it from Amazon, their policy is that they can't accept hazardous materials in return. Anyone with experience with this battery (not to be confused with the Odyssey PC1200MJT) or similar situation, your advice or comment would be appreciated.

Not an issue. The chassis of the car is tied to the negative terminal. (negative ground).

Thanks for the reply Quicksilverdon.

Did some additional research about what you wrote. Seems your correct. Finally got both terminals connected, though the left terminal is really crammed up in there. Only possible issue I can see is if I ever have to disconnect the battery again is to be careful with the negative terminal.

Thanks again.

IF it is really tight, it may crack the battery, please keep a eye on it.
