Smile Engine mounts advice please

Hi there... Ive read a lot of post about fail engine or motor mounts... but I really cant see too well inside the mounts to see if the rubber its all messed up... so I took a little video to read your oppinions about my engine movement... My pt was idle in park.. the R N D... N R Park so tellme what you think? its the normal movement or do I need some new ones... thanx a lot: Daniel

I'm no expert and I've never had to change mine but I'd say you have way too much movement. Plenty of threads around to to help you if you want to change any of them yourself.

Here's a couple, I'm sure there's more:

According to Google:

The INSERT is the hard rubber part inside the motor mounts. Its the part that actually wears out and lets the motor shake like yours.

Broken motor mount; NOT a PT

Oh!! thanks heheh... now Crewzing I was reading the forum about this in some say that sometimes the knocking or rattle is due to bad motor mounts, because of the lost of power or torque that the engine struggles and need to readjust but other say that that's not true... Other thing I saw once in a website on the ptcrew forum some performance more rigid mounts do you know if they still make them... cant find the link over there anymore

Thanks a lot Daniel

Yes, apparently the mounts from the Neon SRT4 are a lot more rigid than the PT and guys here say to use them if you never what to replace your again. Actually I think the link that rcktpwrd added to his reply to you has the SRT inserts.

Not sure of your other question but I would THINK it's true that you would loose a little torque and power if your engine is shaking that much but how much I don't know.

I recommend the SRT-4 inserts for two reasons. first is that it is both the upper and lower inserts, the PT inserts only come for one mount. second is that they come with bolts to hold the inserts together instead of zip ties. The inserts are exactly the same shape and material for both cars...
